Upcoming Kickstarter anthology launching in 2021 which is being edited and produced by fellow Stupendous and Horrendous alum, John Edingfield III.

The anthology will have stories from numerous artists with a central theme of taking known fairy tales and giving them our own twist.

I created three stories with a fantastic group of artists.

Here are the teams:

Story #1 : JACKO in Dying to Escape Little Banzroo

Basis Character : Jack the Giant Killer

Words and Inks : ME

Pencils : John Muller (Stupendous and Horrendous)

Colors : Sigmund  Torre (DC Comics)

Letters : Carlos M. Mangual (DC Comics)

A tale of all out action adventure in a modern world of violence and action against overwhelming odds.

Sigmund Torre had a successful run as the Colorist on DC Comic's "Raven" book.  Carlos M Mangual has provided the visual voice to numerous books including Action Comics and Batman Black & White.

Story #2 : TAKE OUT

Basis : "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing" tale

Words and art on Pages 8-10 : ME

Letters on Pages 8-10 : Carlos M Mangual

Pencils, Colors and Letters on Pages 1-7 : Matt Buttich (Daddy’s Beard)

Hunger leads to oblivion.  Matt Buttich has a long list of independent projects and is the published author and illustrator of “Daddy’s Beard” a successful Kickstarter children’s book.

Story #3 : SOCIALIS SPECULUM

Basis Character : Iron John

Words, Pencils and Inks : ME

Letters : Carlos M. Mangual

I will be doing the artwork for this important tale with a look at our current world.  The tale will be given its visual voice through the lettering of Carlos M Mangual who has a long list of published works via DC Comics, Dynamite and Aftershock.

Story #4 : THE DRESS

Basis Character : Cinderella

And as a special BONUS my daughter, Marimar Lopez, was also selected to provide a story which I will be assisting in editing but she is doing writing and all art.

Latest Review Quotes

Dirk Manning, writer BURIED BUT NOT DEAD,BUTTS IN SEATS, TALES OF MR. RHEE
"Short stories with twist endings that even experienced readers won't see coming -- these are among my favorite types of comic offerings!"

Writtenwritralf from Bittenappletv  [Rafael Tavares Jr]

These aren’t the fairy tales you remember and the twists that come you will not see coming. Maybe it’s time that you dive anew into fairy tales that are well told; That are new and different yet old and comforting.  These stories must be read and they definitely leave you wanting to know more or get more from them. I love taking a known story from being familiar to something very different.

Ben Worrell, author/artist of Sheath
Jacko - “Non-stop action and a fun twist makes Jacko a fun read with family-friendly swearing!”

Take Out - “A fairy tale sure to disturb. I thought I knew where this one was going. Trust me, I did not.”

Socialis Specilum - “A tranquil conversation between a prisoner and passerby leads to a reflective discussion of prejudice, fear, and the path forward. Worth a read, and then another!”

John Ottinger, creator of "Dweores" writes about my stories:

“I HIGHLY recommend the stories. Enrique [Lopez] took a fairytale and the Twilight Zone, mixed well and served as fancy dessert. Appealing to the eyes and delicious! Really fun reads!”

Edgar Pasten, Creator of “Ameri-kaiju”, provides these insights on the stories:

Socialis Speculum
This serene and experimental work aims to share a very personal world view. It certainly holds a mirror in the face of our country’s longest running pandemic without pointing fingers.

Jacko
For action lovers, JACKO delivers. There’s shoot ‘em up action, gratuitous explosions, and best of all, a vicious villain to deal with before dinner!

Take Out
Rhyming, nostalgia, and an unexpected twist!

James Avila, fellow artist and creator of "All I Have to Do is Dream" series:

"After reading a few of the stories, I can assure you, you will NEVER guess the twists that Enrique takes in these books!"

Jacko - A fun action tale that keeps upping the anti until the final creative reveal.

Take Out - Don’t let the first few pages fool you, this is NOT the big bad wolf story you grew up reading!

Socialis Speculum - Creative paneling and presentation decorate the most thought provoking piece of the set.

The Dress - A heartwarming and very well illustrated tale from newcomer Marimar Lopez. Excited to see where her artistic journey goes from here!

Becky Fuller, colorist had this to say:

Jacko - Action packed! The reader’s attention is grabbed immediately by opening action that maintains a quick, but not rushed, pace. Anticipation is built up well and culminates in a fun and satisfying ending.

Takeout - A fun take on whimsical horror. The rhyming verse lulls the reader into a false sense of security - allowing them to really be grabbed by the ending!

Socialis Speculum - This story is unexpectedly evocative. It calls for justice and fairness, and the reader already knows there will be none. The cries of hate and fear echoed throughout the narrative are strong allegories to the social injustices faced by so many. This is a story that needs to be read.

The Dress - A heartwarming twist on a classic tale. The reader is take on a feel good journey that will leave them smiling. The young writer has a wonderful grasp of her voice and displays it beautifully.
